    Congress To Review RAP Act Barring Use of Lyrics In Court

    The movement to prohibit the usage of rap lyrics in criminal cases by prosecutors has now reached the federal level, as a new bill with that aim has been introduced in the United States Congress.

    On Wednesday (July 27th), the RAP Act was introduced on the floor of the House of Representatives by Democratic Representatives Hank Johnson (GA-04) and Jamaal Bowman (NY-16). The Restoring Artistic Protection Act looks to protect artists from the wrongful usage of their lyrics against them in civil and criminal court cases. Representative Johnson shared the news through his Twitter account.

    Many of Lil Baby’s fans are speculating that he may be the next to be hit with a RICO charge after the Fulton County district attorney announced there would be more high-profile cases before summer’s end. This announcement came just two months after Young Thug, Gunna and countless YSL associates were arrested on racketeering charges. DA Fani T. Willis stated there would be at least two more over the next 60 days.

    I know this has to have quite a few rappers shaking in their bulky Balenciaga boots.

    Saint Laurent Spring 2023 Menswear Collection

    Come for the spectacle, stay for the clothes. That’s the best way to think about Anthony Vaccarello’s tour de force spring 2023 menswear show. He wisely knew when to turn things up to high drama level—and when to turn them way down so that what he showed, his best men’s collection yet, felt intimate and real and strong. Of course, the setting helped. Vaccarello had decamped to the Agafay desert, an hour or so out of Marrakech.     A gustatory trip to Paris with chef Ollie Dabbous

    For summer holidays, I love rough and ready, rustic and unrefined, sandy and scruffy. For city breaks, I head for the other end of the spectrum: something rather more indulgent and sophisticated. It should feel like a treat, though it doesn’t have to cost the earth. Luxury, for myself, is not just what I am enjoying, but actually having the time to do so.

    I finally made it to Paris, one of my favourite cities, this spring for a weekend made even better by glorious weather. We stayed at the Grand Powers hotel, which is well located on Rue François 1er in the “Golden Triangle”. It has a touch of the Wes Anderson about it and offers fantastic value, especially given where it is. The staff couldn’t be more helpful or personable.

    Bill Meant to Ban Lyrics From Being Used as Evidence Brought to Congress

    The Restoring Artistic Protection Act (RAP Act), aimed at quelling the use of rap lyrics as permissible evidence in court, was introduced in the United States Congress on Wednesday, by Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY).

    Per Variety, the bill would add a presumption to the Federal Rules of Evidence laws in order to “limit the admissibility of evidence of a defendant’s creative or artistic expression against such defendant in a criminal proceeding, and for other purposes.”

    “Freddy Mercury did not confess to having ‘just killed a man’ by putting ‘a gun against his head’ and ‘’pulling the trigger,” a release announcing the proposed legislation read. “Bob Marley did not confess to having shot a sheriff. And Johnny Cash did not confess to shooting ‘a man in Reno, just to watch him die.’”

    Rep. Bowman added that rap music in particular needs to be protected.

To enhance the ensemble’s effortless feel, she also wore Valentino Garavani’s brown leather slide sandals, which are ideal for slipping on and off while going through metal detectors. (Good luck undoing strappy heels while in a security line filled with impatient travellers.)
